Reporting of yellow and red cards

It has again been brought to the attention of the Ulster Hockey Umpiring Committee that many yellow and red card offences in Junior League hockey, and incidents involving misconduct by club officials and spectators, are not being reported. There appear to be a number of repeat offenders in Junior League hockey who never seem to have their offences reported and therefore continue to get away with indiscipline week after week. All cards in 1st XI games are reported so it is grossly unfair that players in 2nd, 3rd, 4th XIs and below are not punished. The Umpiring Committee is also aware that there are spectators and club officials at some grounds who repeatedly berate visiting players and umpires.

It is important that our Club Umpires report all offences to the Hockey Office within 72 hours of the match. Reports may be sent in by email. Yellow and Red Card report forms, and guidelines on how to complete them, are available on the Ulster Hockey website at http://www.ulsterhockey.com/hockey/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=115&Itemid=117. In the case of misconduct by spectators then it is not appropriate to show a card but a report of the incident should be sent to the Hockey Office by email or in a letter.

It is the responsibility of all Club Umpires to report all Yellow and Red Card offences, and incidents of misconduct by club officials and spectators, to the Hockey Office.
