Annadale Hockey Club Scores for the Ulster Cancer Foundation
Annadale Hockey Club has nominated Northern Ireland’s leading local cancer charity, the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF) as their charity partner for the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons.
With support from UCF, Annadale Hockey Club will be encouraged to raise funds through a variety of activities over the next two years, to help local people who have been affected by cancer.
Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing, UCF said, “We are really looking forward to working with the committee, players and supporters of Annadale Hockey Club. At UCF we understand that there is little that causes as much anxiety and stress as a diagnosis of cancer. There are currently 55,000 families in Northern Ireland living with cancer and around 10,700 people are newly diagnosed each year. Our role is to make that time of extreme stress a little more bearable by providing a range of care services for cancer patients and their families during this difficult time.
“Our partnership with Annadale Hockey Club is very important to us as it will raise awareness of cancer among players and supporters as we bring our cancer prevention information kiosks to the club and it will also generate funds to help to continue our work, supporting local people who have been affected by the disease.”
Neil Hamilton, 1st XI Captain, Annadale Hockey Club said, “Annadale HC is delighted to announce UCF as our club charity for the 2010/1011 and 2011/2010 seasons. As a club we understand the important role we can play in our community and through our partnership with UCF we hope to help communicate life saving cancer prevention messages to our club members and supporters as well as the wider hockey playing community, while at the same time helping to raise vital funds to help cancer patients and their families here in Northern Ireland.”
UCF is a local charity committed to tackling cancer by supporting cancer research, providing services for cancer patients and their families and by educating people on how they can reduce their risk of the disease.
